Lo Chan Peng has been invited to take part in “Transformation: Body · Gaze · Power,” the tenth-anniversary exhibition of the Asia University Museum of Modern Art, and to speak at the opening as a representative of the artists. Taking the body as its theme, the exhibition unfolds across five sections — Awakening, The Contest of Art and Eros, The Discipline of Power, The Collective Gaze and The Body in Flux — examining Eastern conceptions of the body, the line between art and the erotic, power, looking and the boundary-crossing body, and tracing the many guises the body has assumed in art since the twentieth century. Its conceptual ground is Michel Foucault’s notion of ‘biopower,’ and it speaks to Taiwan’s present #MeToo moment.
